How do you pray? For most of us, we didn’t deliberately learn the Lord’s Prayer; we absorbed it through a loving grandmother or a plaque on the wall, leaving it dormant and unexamined. Over time, it easily becomes “Spiritual Muscle Memory,” reducing holy words to the mere mechanics of a swing.
In Part 1 of our series Teach Us to Pray, Pastor Tom Kang deliberately breaks down the familiar text through deconstruction and reconstruction. Focusing on the first three words of the prayer (OUR, FATHER, HALLOWED), we discover that prayer is not an individualistic incantation or a magical formula. Instead, it is a seat at the family table, an invitation to call the King of the universe “Dad,” and a daily calling to align our lives so that His holy name is set apart above everything else.
